Letters 2I read up everything I could find on Richard Packham and
decided it was time to write for his help; http://www.inspire-east.org.uk/richardpackham.aspx Seems a nice man! So I wrote a letter on Dear Mr
Packam We are a very new
group called Friends of Riverside Road. We have a
website: www.friendsofriversideroad which will explain in more detail what our
aims and concerns are. At the moment we
are constantly waiting for news of various meetings we have attended with GYBC
regarding the area known as "Darby's Hard". Our first meeting was in March 2009
and we have not had much of a result from that meeting or the one after in June
2009. We have managed
to get a couple of waste bins erected so I suppose we have to count that as
progress! As a group we
have concerns about the This is one of
the oldest parts of Gorleston and we would like to know if there are any
intentions to improve the road, stop the dolphins falling into the river and
generally spend some money on improving this unique area in a sympathetic
manner? It is now a
conservation area, which is good, but not necessarily helping us very much at
the moment. We would be
grateful for your opinion on what might be happening in the future to this
area. Kind
regards Pauline

As
Richard Packham is currently on annual leave, please accept this as confirmation
that we have received your email. I
have a copy of the notes from the meeting in June, and will draw this to Mr
Packham’s attention on his return. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oh well, everyone has to have a holiday, so I waited...and waited..and then wrote again: Dear
Mr Packham Once
again I attach my letter written on 24th February which has not been
answered. I am assuming you are back from your annual
leave. Having
read in the Mercury recently that there are plans in the pipeline for the area
known as "Darby's Hard" I feel it even more important now to receive some
replies to my questions; I
am disappointed that questions put in some time ago have not been answered by
your officers. What is your policy regarding this? Please
now answer the following questions under the Freedom of Information Act
which I understand will be answered in a maximum of 20 working
days. All
questions relate to the I
understand there are proposals to make the general area between the old ice
house and the fishermen's quay into a lay by for shipping if and when a third
river crossing is built. a)
has this been discussed? b)
is it a possibility? c)
is it part of the current planning? d)
or because of its conversation status it wouldn't happen? Pauline

to have to go to those lengths but it was obvious I would not get a serious
reply if I didn't
