Update 2nd Meeting

Update on meeting 2.

River Defence Work

A Capital Appraisal Form has been submitted to see whether or not River Defence Works can be awarded some of next year’s GYBC budget. This would be targeted to start September 2010. This does not guarantee that the budget will be available.

NCC carry out regular visual inspections of all adopted highway and any safety defects are programmed to ensure the road is maintained in a safe condition but this is not a comprehensive report. The responsibility of the river defences alongside Riverside Road is the responsibility of GYBC (previously the Port Authorities) and a meeting was held between John Cotton (NCC) and Bernie Harris (GYBC) to make him aware of the problem of the defences. This has resulted in the Capital Appraisal Form being completed.

Repairs and Routine Maintenance

The cleaning schedule is on an as and when basis, normally a fortnightly mechanical sweep, usually on a Saturday. There is also the Hot Spot crew who will pick up from the area if there is a problem. During the summer months the sweep is weekly but in the winter goes back to fortnightly.

Jetty (Dolphins) Damage Compensation

There hasn’t been any progress since March this year. Simon Mutten and Bernie Harris will revisit the claim.

Comment

Not very much of a result after almost 12 months?

We will carry on asking questions and trying to get results. One positive result is the fact that “Darby’s Hard” area is now the proud owner of two rubbish bins! Progress of a sort.

Also spotted recently was a member of the “Hot Spot” crew picking up in the area.
